From Powder to Après-Ski: Skiing in Sölden, Sölden’s Hidden Gem

Sölden is one of the biggest skiing resorts in Austria. But what else except kilometers of slopes attract people from all over the world?

Kilometers of slopes

Solden is located in Ötztal ( Tirol area). The total length of skiing slopes is 143km. 50% of slopes are blue ( good for beginners), 30% are red ( for experienced skiers) and the rest are black for advanced professionals. Also, there’s a freeride area for backcountry skiing. So as you can see skiers of all levels will find Solden interesting. Slopes are ready to use from October till May because of Rettenbachfern and Tiefenbachfern glaciers.

But Solden is not just about skiing – it’s one of the best places for après-ski!

Après-ski in Sölden

When skiing day is going to an end people are slowly moving from slopes to bars to continue the party. Music is coming from everywhere, everyone is dancing in bars while wearing ski boots, hugging strangers, and singing along to local songs (even if you don’t know them). The main après-ski bars are located in the center of the resort.

Best après-ski places in Sölden:

Kuckuck

This is the place where you should start once you get out from the Giggijochbahn gondola. It’s more a pub with big terrace and variety of beers where you can feel real après-ski vibe.

In Sölden, the party never ends 😉

Don’t drink and ski

Skiing is a fun and exhilarating activity, but it’s important to stay safe on the slopes. While it may be tempting to start partying at the many bars and restaurants along the way, we strongly advise against it. Not only can alcohol impair your judgment and reaction time, but it can also increase your risk of accidents and injuries. You need to have your legs under you. Après-ski happens after you ski! You are not talking your half a liter to your daily 5km run, don’t you?

And if you’re a fan of beer like we are, consider trying non-alcoholic options like Paulaner Weissbier. Not only does it taste amazing for a non-alcoholic beer, but it’s also a safer choice for skiing.

Remember, safety should always come first when enjoying the slopes.

Renting

You’ll find many renting services close to each gondola. But my recommendation will be renting INTERSPORThttps://www.glanzer.at/en/intersport-rent, they have many renting point in Solden with very helpful stuff and high-level equipment.

Prices depends on the level of the equipment. Starting from €27 per day you can get economy level skies + €15 for boots. Price can go up to €45 for superior level skies.

Also they provide carefree packages (theft + breakage): very useful when you don’t want to carry you equipment to the hotel or you live far away from the resort. It cost ****€7,50 for 1st & 2nd day of renting; €15 – from 3rd day of renting.

Tips: book you skies online and get 15% discount

Electronic Mountain Festival

Electronic Mountain Festival is a fantastic mix of rhythms, mountains, and energy that brings the greatest DJs of electronic dance music to the Sölden each spring. You may easily move from the ski slopes to the dance floor while enjoying life with your friends and the Sölden community at the Giggijoch Fun Zone at 2300 m for a few days.

You can join the festival even if you are not a skier, gondola will take you up to the festival and back to Solden.

Checkout after movie from the previous year, it was insane!

Next festival will take place on 10 – 14.04.2023. If you are planning to ski, then the ticket price will be included in your ski pass, otherwise you can take the tickets on the official site: https://www.soelden.com/winter/events/electric-mountain.html#scrolltoswitch:tickets
